Are you looking to specialise within the area of Autism? Why? Do you have a personal link or interest?
Have you had experience of Autism, mild or severe? And have you undertaken any SEN experience on placements, paid or voluntarily?
The post holder will be supporting courses which are designed for those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities aged between 16 and 22, to gain more independence, learn life and living skills and progress into a supported living environment. Learners are working from pre-entry up to level 1. Topics include: meal preparation, independence skills, enterprise, communication, travel and leisure and money.
Physically supporting learners, pushing wheelchairs, working with animals (large and small), walking distances, working outside in all weathers, using escalators/lifts, working with plants/gardening implements, working in catering/kitchen areas, standing for long periods, working 1:1 with students, moving around the campuses, moving across the programme as required. Personal care is part of the duties of this role and training will be provided in giving medical care and support. This list is not exhaustive.
ASC Base -Teaching Assistant role in Guildford
– Encouraging students to demonstrate appropriate social skills as well as behaving appropriately in public settings; including all areas of the College
-4 days a week in Guildford, 9-3, 6 hours – £60 per day, ideal hours for someone with a family or a graduate looking to work in the evening
-Helping students understand and undertake set tasks in an appropriate way including note taking and supporting with literacy and numeracy
-Guildford based school, Education and Training provided
-Preparing him for his exams and ensuring he has a good year, ready for his GSCEs
-Learning Support Assistant in a well resourced Secondary school that is at the pinnacle of SEN provision
-£70 per day, 9-3 working with Autistic students
-Ideal preparation for a research project or MSc. Much needed practical experience that paves the way for Occupational Therapy/Education Psychology
-Working and collaborating with other Learning Support Assistants is a key element of the role
