CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we’re always looking for Psychiatrists with experience in both adult and child ADHD assessment and treatment to join our UK-wide network on a contract basis. If you’re comfortable working across age groups and ADHD pathways — we have contracts designed for you.

What the role actually looks like

CAMHS ADHD assessment and treatment clinics

Adult ADHD community services

Neurodevelopmental services (all ages)

Right to Choose and independent ADHD providers

Transition services bridging CAMHS and adult psychiatry

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive psychiatric assessments for ADHD across both child and adult populations

Gathering multi-informant histories and utilising validated ADHD rating tools (e.g. Conners, DIVA, SNAP-IV, CAARS)

Making diagnostic decisions and communicating outcomes clearly to patients, families, and referrers

Initiating, managing, and reviewing ADHD medication across stimulant and non-stimulant prescribing pathways

Contributing to MDT working alongside psychologists, specialist nurses, and ADHD coaches

Managing complex and comorbid presentations including ASD, anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use

Providing written assessment reports and letters to agreed standards and timescales

Supporting transition planning for young people moving from CAMHS to adult services

Maintaining GMC-compliant clinical documentation and participating in audit and quality improvement

What we need from you

Essential:

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise — no conditions or restrictions

MRCPsych or equivalent recognised psychiatric qualification

Experience in ADHD assessment and prescribing across child and/or adult populations

Section 12(2) approval (desirable but not essential for all roles)

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)

Familiarity with NICE guidelines on ADHD (NG87 and TA98)

Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and MDT liaison

Desirable (but not always required):

Experience working across both CAMHS and adult psychiatry pathways

Competency in autism (ASD) assessment alongside ADHD

Experience with Right to Choose or independent ADHD services

Approved Clinician (AC) status

Interest or experience in transition-age psychiatry
