Austin Dean Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced, prison-cleared Pharmacy Technician to support a busy male reception estate within a secure custodial healthcare setting (prison).
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and organised Pharmacy Technician who is familiar with prison healthcare processes and thrives in a fast-paced, structured environment.
Role Overview
You will play a vital role in supporting the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of medicines within a custodial setting, working closely with pharmacists, healthcare teams, and prison staff.
Key Responsibilities
*
Dispense and assemble medicines accurately in line with prescriptions and SOPs
*
Support medicines reconciliation for new prison receptions
*
Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of medications
*
Assist with in-possession and controlled drugs processes
*
Maintain accurate patient medication records and documentation
*
Ensure compliance with prison security procedures and medicines management legislation
*
Work collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
*
Support audits, governance, and quality improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements
*
Qualified Pharmacy Technician (BTEC / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
*
Registered with the GPhC
*
Current prison clearance (mandatory)
*
Previous experience working within a prison or secure environment
*
Strong knowledge of medicines management and controlled drugs
*
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
*
Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume reception setting
*
Enhanced DBS – must be n the update service
