Central is currently recruiting for Hostel Workers to work in various locations across London on an ad hoc basis. You will provide an effective, high quality support service to address the presenting needs of residents in a busy hostel housing men and women with complex and enduring needs in relation to substance misuse and related issues (i.e. street activity, mental health).
Successful candidates will be required to work in various shift patterns including earlies, lates, waking nights, and sleep-ins. Pay rates range from £12.66 – £14.00 (inclusive of holiday pay).
Each Hostel Worker will be responsible for a caseload of clients, and duties will involve:
* Referral and assessment
* Processing move-ins
* Risk assessments
* Needs assessments
* Support planning
* Partnership working
* Managing client’s use of time
* Health and safety
* Benefits and budgeting support
* Housing management
In this position, candidates are expected to provide effective day to day shift cover that supports the aims of the project, safeguards the residents and provides effective support within a harm minimisation and strengths and recovery framework.
To apply for this role, you must have at least 12 months’ paid experience of working with homeless adults who have a variety of additional needs including substance misuse or mental health needs. You must also have an understanding of the principles of risk and needs assessment, and be able to flexibly work with clients who have a low level of engagement with the service.
Candidates must also have a good level of computer literacy and numeracy, as all notes must be recorded accurately, and clients will need assistance with budgeting calculations.
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
