CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we’re always looking for compassionate Family Support Workers to join our nationwide network on a contract basis. If you have experience working with families alongside children and young people in a mental health or social care context, we’d love to hear from you.

What the role actually looks like

CAMHS community teams

Early help and family intervention services

Tier 2 and Tier 3 CAMHS

Crisis and home treatment teams

Children’s social care and multi-agency settings

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Building trusting, supportive relationships with families of children and young people accessing CAMHS

Providing practical and emotional support to parents and carers to help them support their child’s mental health and wellbeing

Delivering structured family-based interventions and parenting support programmes

Conducting family needs assessments and contributing to care planning alongside the clinical team

Advocating for families within MDTs and multi-agency networks

Supporting families to access wider community resources, benefits, housing, and education services

Facilitating family meetings and reviews in collaboration with clinicians and social workers

Keeping accurate records of family contacts, interventions, and outcomes

Contributing to safeguarding processes and escalating concerns appropriately

Attending team meetings, supervision, and training as required

What we need from you

Essential:

Experience working with families in a mental health, social care, or early intervention setting

A genuine commitment to family-centred, strengths-based practice

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)

Up-to-date mandatory training including safeguarding children Level 2+

Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building skills

Ability to work sensitively with families in difficult or complex circumstances

Good record keeping and report writing abilities

Desirable (but not always required):

NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, Childcare, or equivalent

Experience delivering parenting programmes (e.g. Triple P, Webster-Stratton, NVR)

Knowledge of children’s mental health, trauma-informed care, or attachment theory

Experience within CAMHS or a specialist children’s mental health service

A relevant qualification in family work, social work, or counselling
