Communication is at the heart of every therapeutic relationship. In CAMHS, your SLT skills are more important than ever.
CAMHS Professionals are specialist mental health recruiters, and we are always looking for experienced Speech and Language Therapists to join our nationwide network on a contract basis. If you are HCPC registered, experienced in working with children and young people, and want to use your SLT skills in a mental health context — we want to hear from you.
What the role actually looks like
CAMHS inpatient wards
Neurodevelopmental assessment clinics (ASD and ADHD pathways)

Community CAMHS and early intervention teams
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive speech, language, and communication assessments with children and young people across a range of clinical presentations
Assessing the communicative profiles of young people referred through ASD and ADHD diagnostic pathways, contributing to MDT diagnostic formulations
Delivering evidence-based SLT interventions tailored to individual communication needs and goals
Providing specialist assessment and therapy for children with selective mutism, social communication difficulties, and language-based learning needs
Contributing SLT expertise to eating disorder programmes, including assessment of oral motor function and feeding difficulties where relevant
Producing high-quality SLT reports for diagnostic, care planning, educational, and legal purposes
Working collaboratively within MDTs alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, OTs, and social workers
Providing consultation and training to carers, school staff, and other professionals on supporting communication needs
Maintaining HCPC and RCSLT-compliant clinical records and attending relevant clinical meetings
Contributing to clinical supervision, peer review, service development, and audit
